The RN/LPN assists persons supported with Medical Needs. The RN/LPN works closely and cooperatively with all agency staff to maintain a supportive atmosphere that is consistent with each individual's health plan. Relationships with individuals will promote independence, encourage health maintenance and health seeking behaviors, and provide a health-seeking atmosphere that addresses each person's physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs.
Position Details:
Full Time: 40 Hours per Week; Monday - Friday
Shift: Days
Pay: $21 - $25 per hour
Job Knowledge and Comprehension:
A. Responsible to be health resource person for individuals served.
B. Responsible for all nursing service standards as required by outside agencies.
C. Assists individuals with medication administration in the day program. Arranges for medication administration when absent from the Agency.
D. Ensure proper documentation is filed in individual medical and permanent files following medical appointments of assigned individuals served.
E. Supervise individuals served for medical/dental and other medical appointments as needed. Provide medical attention/follow-up as needed.
F. Provide First Aid, medical follow-up, and record keeping for possible exposure incidents.
G. Accompanies individuals to medical appointments and provides support and assists medical professionals in working with the individuals while at appointments.
H. Administers first aid/CPR to individuals as needed.
I. Assists in scheduling medical appointments.
J. Assists with health assessments of the individuals served (may include: visual and hearing screenings, blood pressure reading, pulse and temperature readings, weight and height measurements, etc.)
K. Other duties as assigned consistent with non-exempt functions.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting requirements may exceed 50 lbs. during medical emergency situations and/or behavior support. Other physical activities include transferring people we support from and to wheelchairs, beds, toilets, and other required job duties. Job requires bending, stooping, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling, and driving a vehicle frequently.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current South Dakota license as a RN or LPN.
Possess a valid South Dakota drivers license.
Satisfactory work related and character references.
