What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Family Support Services position at Human Services Programs of Carroll County?
This role is responsible for the operational success of HSP by providing leadership, fiscal oversight, team management and development, program management and delivery of services for the Family Center.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership, supervision, guidance, support and direction to staff, interns and volunteers
- Develop strategic communications and partnerships by translating program goals and information into unified concepts, tones and messages.
- Responsible for the application, maintenance, budget and renewal of grants relating to the family center including but not limited to MFN.
- Serve as Liaison to MFN, and various state level agencies.
- Work with development staff to find funding
- Produce program reports and evaluate data for timely and accurate submission.
- Remain in compliance with all necessary compliance measures as directed by grantors including but not limited to MFN.
- Monitor and ensure funds are utilized within grant period and guidelines; oversee the receiving and confirmation of payment authorizations, supply/order deliveries; and forwarding of signed packing slips to Finance; submit receipts and purchase orders to Finance within 24 business hours of purchase
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidates for this position must possess the following: effective skills to accomplish the program goals and objectives; effective interpersonal, team building, communication and organizational skills; ability to take initiative, be self-motivating and creative with minimal direction, ability to work independently and also as part of a team, ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities simultaneously with flexibility and composure, effective writing skills, program development, planning and evaluation skills. Knowledge of budgeting, and fund-accounting. Experience in human services’ programs and practices, knowledge of community resources. Knowledge of computer operations is required. Candidates are required to have a valid motor vehicle operator’s permit and proof of current automobile insurance. Must be positive, cooperative, and supportive.
Educational Requirements: Candidates for this position will be required to have an advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family Studies, Social Work, Nursing or related field from an accredited college or university. Experience may be considered in lieu of education. Candidates for this position are required to have at least 2 years of paid experience in an equivalent or human service position. Graduate education may be substituted for experience up to a maximum of one year.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Strong supervisory experience is required for staff, interns and/or volunteers.
Work Environment: This position has contact with all levels of personnel within the organization, consumers, vendors, and other agencies. Typical office setting.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full Time (40 hours/week). Normal office hours. Occasional evenings, nights or weekends may be required.
Travel Requirements: Minimal local travel. Occasional distance travel may be required for meetings/training.
