The Opportunity: Animal Care Attendant
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) has current openings for the position of full-time and part-time Animal Care Attendant. The attendants provide for the general care and maintenance of shelter animals including feeding and kennel cleaning. Job training is provided.

Your attention to detail and good judgement will help to ensure the cleanliness of the shelter environment and the safety of the animals in our care. What We Offer
The pay rate for this position starts at $16.00 per hour there is an additional $2.00 per hour paid or hours worked on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Employees are considered full-time if they are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week. Summary of Responsibilities
  • Providing adequate food and water to shelter animals each day.
  • Cleaning shelter kennels, crates, cages, and animal items/equipment using sanitizer system each day.
  • Ensuring the kennel environment is clean and safe for animals and people.
  • Operating the industrial dishwasher and distributing or stocking clean supplies throughout shelter.
  • Operating industrial laundry machines and organizing linens and laundry for the shelter.
  • Observing and reporting changes in animal health or temperament to supervisor.
  • Maintaining the facilities and kennel areas as needed to ensure animal housing is clean and free of hazards.

Qualifications and Requirements
We prioritize applicants who have a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. It is preferred that Animal Care Attendants are able to perform basic computer skills in a Windows environment. Attendants must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with assistance. A pre-employment background check and drug screen are required for all employment candidates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
We are looking for highly motivated, polite, team-players who are able to sustain working through a busy day standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and lifting while also handling several tasks at once. Knowledge of animal breeds, animal behavior, and pet training is helpful but not required.
