What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Humane Society of Harford County?
Do you love animals AND people? Well then the Humane Society of Harford County is looking for you! We employ talented and dedicated animal welfare professionals in all areas of the shelter, and we are looking to expand our team! We are an open-admission, nonprofit, progressive animal shelter and take in approximately 3,000-3,500 animals a year of all species, including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, rodents, farm animals, and even fish! Please be sure to include any animal handling or shelter/rescue experience on your application and/or resume. We are especially interested in candidates that are multi-lingual, particularly if you are fluent in Spanish and/or American Sign Language!
REQUIREMENTS
All candidates must be 18 or older, pass a pre-employment background check, possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, have an excellent work ethic, be able to work effectively under high stress, and handle an emotionally and physically demanding work environment. Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)
The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and plays a vital role in ensuring the Humane Society’s facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained. This position involves performing routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other key systems; and general upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment, while adhering to safety protocols and supporting the organization’s mission to care for animals. Successful candidates must have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work indoors and out in all weather conditions, and perform repetitive functions such as bending, kneeling, lifting and reaching.
