Job Summary
The Animal Care Technician is responsible for the day-to-day cleaning of the dog kennels and isolation pens, cattery and medical cages. The technician carries out feedings, watering and turn outs of all dogs and cats. Afternoon responsibilities include assisting the Kennel/Behavior Manager with training, playgroups and enrichment.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Feed and water animals in morning and afternoon
· Turn out dogs in day pens morning and afternoon
· Disinfect and clean all dog housing, light clean 2 pm and 5 pm
· Sweep, dust and pick up as needed in aisle ways
· Maintain all animal support areas including laundry, food storage, turn outs and aisleways
· Clean catteries including cages, litter boxes and floors
· Clean Medical Room cages on Sundays and Mondays
· Overseeing volunteers who assist with any ACT tasks
· Assist Kennel/Behavior Manager and Animal Wellness Manager by notating and reporting changes in animal behavior, eating, etc.
· Enrichment for dogs in kennels
Qualifications
· Shelter Clinic experience preferred
· General knowledge of small animal care and behavior
· Excellent organization skills
· Self-directed
· High School Diploma or GED
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for four or more hours
· Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $10.50 - $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
