What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Technician position at Humane Society of Harrison County?
This is a part time position of 3 or 4 days a week. Must be available on weekends and weekdays. Preferably would be Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues. Scheduling can be worked with, and your role rotates daily. We are open seven days a week from 8am-4pm. Must be reliable and have reliable transportation.
Duties:
- Provide daily care for animals in the kennel, including feeding, watering, and exercising
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals
- Assist with grooming and bathing of animals
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and treatment
- Customer service skills when answering phone and doing adoptions.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects, such as bags of food or large dogs (sometimes 50 pounds)
- Excellent customer service skills with the public
- Knowledge of basic animal care and handling techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
- Strong attention to detail to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the kennel area
Please note that previous experience working with animals is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
