Position: Veterinary Receptionist
Hours: Full Time, some weekends and evenings (Mon 8-5, Thur 8-7, Fri 8-7, Sat 9-4)

The Veterinary Receptionist for the Humane Society of Huron Valley combines the duties or a receptionist with those of an animal care worker. We seek a person with exceptional customer service skills who is passionate about helping both animals and people. QUALIFICATIONS Must be an energetic, trustworthy, sensitive, flexible, and compassionate individual with excellent communication and customer relations skills. The Clinic Veterinary Receptionist must work effectively in a high stress, fast-paced environment while remaining calm under pressure. Any employee must be highly committed to our goal of taking care of our community’s pets and helping support the greater HSHV animal shelter. Past veterinary experience a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide exceptional customer service to all individuals and animals who interact with our veterinary clinic, including both clients and co-workers. Immediately greet clients and potential clients both in-person and over the phone.
2. Manage a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls, answering, or forwarding appropriately and promptly.
3. Schedule Veterinary Clinic appointments, both surgical and outpatient.
4. Create and maintain new patient records in our software system.
5. Check patients in, gathering medical history and other information as needed.
6. Check patients out, explaining surgical aftercare, medications or prescriptions, and any additional treatments as necessary.
7. Work cooperatively with co-workers and volunteers to ensure the smooth flow of clinic operations, while meeting the highest standards of animal care. Bring problems and concerns to the clinic leadership team efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
8. Learn and effectively communicate the purpose and benefits of our preventative and retail products to clients.
9. Maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe lobby for clinic customers - both people and pets.
10. Process client invoices, collect payment, issue receipts (credits, change, etc.) and enter data into the software system in a consistently accurate, complete, and timely manner. Adhere to all cash management standards of practice. Balance the cash drawer.
11. Attend clinic and staff meetings.
12. Train administrative volunteers.
13. Other duties as assigned, including educating clients, special tasks assigned by Clinic Director, and additional clinic support as needed.
