About the Role
As our Education Program Coordinator, you'll lead educational initiatives that connect children and the community with our mission. You'll develop curriculum, organize programs like Kids for Critters Camp and Club HOPE, and manage our dedicated team of volunteer educators. Whether you're teaching an in-person class, coordinating outreach programs, or developing creative educational materials, you'll play a key role in shaping how we educate and inspire.
What You'll Do:
- Assist the Director of Education develop and implement engaging curriculum and educational materials
- Teach in-house, outreach, and virtual classes on animal welfare topics
- Manage and oversee Kids for Critters Camp (summer) and Club HOPE (school year)
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteer humane educators
- Plan and execute special projects, community events, and school partnerships
- Maintain relationships with local educators, schools, and community groups
- Work collaboratively with other departments to support educational initiatives
- Occasionally work nights and weekends for special events as part of this full-time, hourly position
What We're Looking For:
- Must love animals and working with kids!
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field is preferred
- At least 2 years of teaching experience (classroom or camp setting preferred)
- Strong lesson planning, program management, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Volgistics is a plus!
- Enthusiastic, creative, and able to adapt to new challenges
- Comfortable caring for and interacting with classroom animals, including ferrets, snakes, rats, guinea pigs, and birds
