Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated veterinarian to join our team. We operate a low cost spay/neuter clinic and need coverage for about 8 days for the remainder of this year. This can become a permanent part time position with work one day every other week, or about 2 days per month. We pay on an hourly basis and need you to be able to perform at least 20 small animal spay surgeries for the day you are scheduled. If you can do more surgeries and be finished in 5 hours, that is ideal. The hours of operation are 9am until 1 or 2pm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shelter and veterinary medicine, with experience in high volume spay/neuter clinics. This role requires a commitment to schedule provided up to one year in advance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-operative examinations of animals to diagnose health issues
- Perform surgical procedures using aseptic techniques while ensuring the safety and comfort of the animal.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as prescribed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using veterinary terminology.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state veterinary license to practice.
- Experience in dog handling, animal handling, and providing postoperative care.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
