This role will report to the Chief Finacial Officer. You will be responsible for the overseeing and managing the organization's technology infrastructure including hardware, software, network and database management. Responsible for coordinating information systems including leading, planning and executing computer related activities across HSSA. Responsible for budget preparation and monitoring of IT related expenses. Ensures downtime for network and / or any individual user is kept to a minimum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for ensuring HSSA network and workstations are maintained in good working order, ensuring updates and patches are installed as needed; recommends configurations and new purchases that will assist staff in performance of job duties; oversees network security; communicates with users about timelines for individual repair and / or upgrades.
- Responsible for HSSA servers, ensuring upgrades and patches happen in a timely manner, configuration setup; maintaining user accounts and controls; responsible for ensuring nightly server backups
- Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate communication with staff regarding outages, upgrades, ensures individual users are kept informed on repair requests
- Ensures excellent IT customer service is performed for all support requests.
- Maintains all HSSA-developed databases; includes programming, upgrading software, and modifications or major upgrades as needed
- Responsible for security camera installations, maintenance and backups
- Responsible for maintaining programming on phone system; adding new users and making changes as needed
- Responsible for generating and partnering with the CFO on annual capital IT budget requests
- Monitors IT expenses and IT capital budget purchases.
- Installs new hardware and software; ensures components work well and downtimes are kept to a minimum
- Supervises IT personnel
- Manages data conversions related to changes in different functional applications for HSSA-developed programs and databases
- Partners with the CFO for strategic planning for IT related upgrades and communications with staff.
- Responsible for developing and implementing as needed IT disaster plan and recovery
- Develops reports from various databases as needed
- Provides user database support
- Manages training for new staff on HSSA information systems, email, and other systems needed to perform their work.
- Resolves system malfunctions and troubleshoots IT problems
- Supports end user needs through ongoing training
- Works with Webmaster to integrate systems into web applications
- Ensures that subordinate staff abide by all safety policies and procedures
- May train and supervise volunteers for the IT Department.
- May drive company vehicle in performance of company business
- Performs other duties as assigned
Working Conditions : Work is performed at an animal shelter in a shared office space. Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, animal bites and scratches. Potential exposure of infectious diseases to owned animals. Exposure to high noise levels when in kennels.
Supervisory Responsibilities : Directly supervises Information Technology Technican and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with HSSA's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training; planning and assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems for IT department.

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA), founded in 1944, is a private, independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization with the mission of acting with compassion and responsible stewardship through innovative programs that serve pets and the people who love them. HSSA is the largest charitable animal welfare and protection agency in Southern Arizona with 100 employees and 1300 volunteers. In 2018, HSSA moved into a new state-of the-art animal shelter and spay / neuter clinic.
