What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. HR Business Partner position at HumanGood Community Support Center?
Under limited supervision from the Regional HR Director, the Senior HR Business Partner assists the Regional HR Director and the community HR teams in supporting Life Plan and Affordable Housing Communities and performs senior level human resources generalist work with a strong focus on employee relations and compliance. The Senior HR Business Partner leads, guides and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas – staffing / onboarding, performance management, compensation, job descriptions, HRIS / payroll, job changes and terminations, benefits, training and development, worker’s comp, leave of absence and ADA, engagement, affiliations and acquisitions.
In this position you would be doing the following :
Assists the Regional HR Director, Community HR and Community Support Center HR Teams as needed in the following areas :
Staffing & Onboarding Support – Assists as needed with identifying and filling open positions to meet Time-to-Hire and other recruiting metrics. Attends regular recruiting meetings and escalates issues to Regional HR Director. Backup to Regional HR Director for offer approvals. Support organizational onboarding initiatives and engage Regional HR Director as needed.
Performance Management Support – Assists as needed with administering compliant and consistent disciplinary actions and terminations. Supports community efforts in regular check-ins, ongoing coaching and feedback, introductory and annual performance review completion. Conducts investigations related to team member complaints of unfair workplace practices, the grievance process and arbitrations, and unfair labor practices.
Compensation – Engage Regional HR when alerted to the need for wage and FLSA analysis and options to attract and retain talent.
Job Descriptions – Ensure appropriate job descriptions are utilized or engage Regional HR Director (or other appropriate resource) to edit descriptions as needed.
HRIS / Payroll – Support timely and accurate payroll submissions. Engage Regional HR Director with escalations between Community and CSC HR teams. May provide direct payroll support to communities as needed. Backup to Regional HR for workflow and missed meal and or rest break approvals.
Job Changes & Terminations – Backup to Regional HR Director to approve job changes that are timely, accurate, and in line with policy and legal requirements. Regional approval is required for involuntary terminations. Assist with Unemployment Insurance claims as needed.
Benefits – Provide hands-on support for Open Enrollment and Life Event benefit changes. Negotiate escalations between Community and CSC HR teams.
Training & Development – Assist in monitoring training completion and following up with communities to assure compliance.
Worker’s Comp – Supports claims process as requested.
Leaves of Absence & ADA Interactive Process – Assists in monitoring leaves and supporting the ADA process as needed.
Engagement Survey & Action Planning – Assists Regional HR and Community HR teams in tracking survey completion and action plans as needed.
Affiliation / Acquisition Support – Assists Regional HR Director as needed with due diligence and implementation efforts to bring new communities into our systems and processes.
Bargaining, Labor Negotiations, Grievances & Complaints – As requested, assist the Regional HR Director in bargaining and grievances.
On-Site Community Support – Understand local HR processes and procedures to assist with on-site support during period of HR team absences or leaves. Provide on-site training and orientation to new HR staff.
Data and Reporting - Provides reporting support to Regional HR and Communities (e.g. Affiliates reports, Compensation data, Job Postings, etc.)
Special Projects – Other projects relating to HR subject areas as requested.
To be successful in this role, you would have :
3-5 years of progressive and directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in employee and labor relations, designing, delivering and implementing HR programs
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to Human Resources work (Sociology, Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Industrial / Labor Relations)
SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP or PHR / SPHR preferred
Ability to travel up to 50%

Location : This position is hybrid; 50% work from home, 50% travel to support communities. Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to California to support business needs.
