HumanHire is partnering with one of Long Island's largest hospital systems in their search for an Oncology Data Specialist. This position involves accurately collecting, abstracting, recording, and reporting cancer-related patient data from both inpatient and outpatient sources into the cancer registry database, contributing to the hospital’s commitment to excellence in patient care, education, research, and strategic planning.
This is a temporary position, starting ASAP and lasting through the end of 2025!
What's in it for you?
Location : Stony Brook, NY
Pay : $30 / hour (plus benefits & weekly pay!)
Schedule : Monday - Friday 7 : 30AM - 4PM
Responsibilities :
Complete required documentation and coding for cancer program accreditation, ensuring compliance with state and national guidelines.
Identify cancer-related patient cases by reviewing pathology reports, oncology consultations, treatment records, hospital admissions, and outpatient visits.
Accurately enter and code patient data into the cancer registry system, following established standards.
Review data for accuracy and respond to any errors to maintain high-quality records.
Qualifications : Associate’s degree
Oncology Data Specialist Certification (ODS-C)
A minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
Familiarity with New York State and national cancer coding standards
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and advanced medical terminology
- MUST BE COVID VACCINATED
