•Must have knowledge of the principles of human growth and behavior, complex physiological and psychological problems, and related treatment practice and therapies.
•Must pass a required background check, which includes Child and Dependent Adult Abuse, criminal record, and driving record checks.

•Must be a LISW, LMHC or LMFT
•At least two (2) years of experience providing therapy in a human service setting or with school aged children experiencing mental health problems is preferred.

Job Summary
Humboldt County Memorial Hospital is seeking a full time mental health therapist with an LISW for the Behavioral Health Department. The ideal candidate will be and individual with high ethical standards and a passion for helping those who struggle with life difficulties including mental health, substances use, marital difficulties and other situations.
Education & Work Experience:
- An advanced degree in one of the fields of psychology, counseling and guidance, mental health, psychiatric nursing, or social work is required.
- LISW (Required)
- At least two (2) years of experience providing therapy in a human service setting or with people experiencing mental health problems is preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of mental health services in a human service setting or with people experiencing mental health problems is preferred.
- Must be eligible to gain an Iowa license if practicing in a field covered by state licensure law. Shall maintain a current Iowa license as required by licensing standards.
- Must have knowledge of the principles of human growth and behavior, complex physiological and psychological problems, and related treatment practice and therapies.

- Be a licensed driver with a reliable vehicle and automobile insurance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in professional assessments, social histories, evaluation, diagnosis, and recommend appropriate treatment and implementation.
- Practice from a trauma informed, holistic perspective and assess for client strengths and resiliency
- Assess risk and safety and work with the client and/or their team to minimize these risks
- Identify environmental factors that impact families and link them to community resources
- Empower, engage, and build relationships with clients and/or families
- Be able to intervene effectively in stressful and crisis situations
- Provides individual, group and/or family therapy
- Develops an annual comprehensive psychosocial assessment
- Provides crisis intervention consultation when applicable
- Able to work independently and as a positive member of a team
- Knowledge of completing documentation not limited to: treatment plans, assessments and service authorizations
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access) and familiarity with the internet and email communications
