POSITION SUMMARY The EMT Basic performs, under limited supervision, various patient care activities in the pre-hospital setting, in accordance with current applicable Federal, State and local standards, rules and regulations set forth by the state Emergency Medical Services office.
Position Designation: The position of EMS EMT Basic is identified as “department safety-sensitive”. Department safety-sensitive positions means employment positions which may in the normal course of business: 1. Require the employee to operate the company vehicles or equipment. 2. Involves duties which, if performed with inattentiveness, errors in judgment, or diminished coordination, dexterity, or composure, may result in mistakes that could present a real and/or imminent threat to the personal health and safety of the employee, co-worker, and/or the public.
Delegation of Authority: The EMS EMT Basic is delegated the authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties.

Participate as a member of an assigned crew for 911 emergency responses, inter-facility transports, rescue calls, and any other duties assigned by the EMS Supervisor or other appropriate authority. |

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS |
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associate degree or higher in related EMS field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two years’ experience desired.
