What are the responsibilities and job description for the Monitor Tech - Telemetry (Registry/Per Diem/PRN) position at Humboldt Park Health?
Position Summary:
The Telemetry Monitor Tech will be responsible for monitoring the Telemetry and ICU monitors (this includes SPO2). The Monitor tech shall recognize and report cardiac arrhythmias to the RN caring for the patient. Delivers telemetry units to floor, rhythm strips to the units every shift and performs monitor hook up, patient preparation and teaching related to cardiac monitors. Maintains equipment and supplies, develops rapport and cooperative relationships with nursing unit staff. Continuously monitors, interprets, communicates, and documents cardiac rhythms and rhythm components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interprets Rhythms and Arrhythmias.
- Reports all changes in heart rate/rhythm to appropriate nursing staff.
- Maintains Telemetry Supplies.
- Records patient rhythms and rhythm changes in the log book.
- Identifies normal and abnormal EKG rhythm pattern.
- Assesses and documents EKG rhythm abnormalities. Notifies appropriate healthcare professional in a timely manner of any changes in rhythm.
- Places patients on monitoring system according to facility’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification is highly desired
- Current Basic Life Support certification
