What are the responsibilities and job description for the OB Technician Registry Nights 7p-7a position at Humboldt Park Health?
Must Have OB Experience 3 shifts per 6 weeks mandatory, can do more shifts if available 7p-7a Nights $25.00 hrly
The OB Tech will maintain and replace unit supplies, checking for expiration dates, will prepare rooms for procedures and assist during procedures needed. He/she can function as a unit secretary, able to complete the short registration patient process in Meditech and is expected to perform tasks such as: transporting patients, entering orders, entering patient charges in the Meditech, bringing specimens to the laboratory, obtaining prenatal records, and maintaining admission packets.
Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets up scrub/procedure room with adequate supplies and equipment for personnel.
- Sets up the OR and the LDR for the procedure. (if applicable)
- Uses proper technique in gowning and gloving.
- Drapes patients in preparation for surgery in cesarean section, tubal ligation and D&C, and any other surgical procedures needed.
- Uses proper technique, scrubs to assist the surgeon during surgical procedure by providing instruments, sutures, sponges, and dressing and other required supplies and equipment.
- Assists RN in counting sponges, instruments, needles, and also in applying dressings.
- Maintains aseptic technique.
- Assists in moving patients from operation table to cart.
- Cleans the procedure rooms/ OR before and after each surgical procedure; assists in maintaining cleanliness of equipment and cabinets. Stores or disposes placentas. Rinses instruments and sprays with Pre-Klenz, dirty instruments brought to sterile processing and clean are restocked in L&D
- Cleans sinks and cabinets, disposes waste materials appropriately
- Maintains adequate supply quantities in patient rooms, checking for outdates.
- Transports patients and brings specimens to the laboratory.
- Able to admit patients in Meditech.
- Updates monthly call lists for in-house OB, in-house Pediatricians, on call Neonatologists and surgical assistants
- Answers call lights
- Files medical records, fax medical records, and obtains medical records from other hospitals if requested. Familiar with downtime forms and procedures
- Enters doctors or CNM orders in Meditech system as verified by RN.
- Completes labor and delivery charges for delivered and undelivered patients.
- Helps RN in completing admission and delivery logbooks.
- Assists RN during delivery.
- Maintains current visiting policy.
- Offers support to patient during labor.
- Daily logs temperatures of warming cabinets
- Processes orders of computer changes.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience is required
- High School/GED
- OB, CST, ABSA Certificate
- BLS Cert. required
- Employee physical is required
This position is registry nights 12 hour shifts
