What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety Officer (Full-time/Day Shift) position at Humboldt Park Health?
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Public Safety Director or Public Safety Sergeant, provides professional protection to patients, employees, visitors and hospital assets. Recognizes and responds to the needs of all customers internal and external.
Responsibilities:
- Patrols the entire campus providing a level of high visibility to ensure patients, employees and visitors safety.
- Reports all incidents and accidents in compliance with hospital policy.
- Conducts preliminary investigations for issues such as theft, malicious acts, employee and visitor injuries and prepares incident reports with complete and accurate information.
- Maintains protection and safety of patients, visitors, staff, and equipment.
- Monitors infant abduction system (HUGS) and responds appropriately to alarms.
- Provides vehicle escort services when requested.
- Assists in the managing of difficult and/or abusive patients or visitors when requested. To de-escalate and control high risk behavior.
- Report any issues/problems in a timely fashion in order for resolution and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintains good working relationship with all staff members.
- Provides and assists with directions and information to visitors, patients, and staff.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 experience
- CPR certification required within 3-months of hire
- PERC Card
- Active IL Driver’s License
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
