The Vice President of Foundation and Philanthropy is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, strengthening donor relationships and overseeing the foundation’s initiatives. This leadership role ensures the alignment of fundraising efforts with the organization’s mission, vision and strategic goals while diving impact through sustainable funding sources and events.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute a long-term strategic plan for philanthropy, aligning with the foundation’s goals and priorities
- Lead all fundraising efforts, including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving grants, corporate partnerships and capital campaigns
- Executes highly successful, revenue-generating fundraising events that drive significant philanthropic contributions
- Identify, cultivate and solicit major donors, ensuring meaningful engagement and stewardship
- Oversee donor prospecting, relationship management and retention strategies to grow the foundation’s donor base
- Foundation Management & Governance
- Provide leadership in the foundation’s operations, financial sustainability and grantmaking strategies
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, executive leadership and community stakeholders to drive philanthropic initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, ethical fundraising practices and financial accountability
- Represent the foundation at public events, conferences and donor meetings to enhance visibility and credibility
- Foster relationships with corporate sponsors, community partners, and government agencies to expand fundraising opportunities
- Act as a spokesperson and advocate for the foundation’s mission, sharing impact stories and outcomes
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence in fundraising and philanthropy
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of senior leadership experience at the Vice President level
- Must have 10 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or nonprofit leadership, with a proven track record of securing major gifts and leading successful campaigns
- Extensive experience in developing and executing highly successful, revenue-generating fundraising events that drive significant philanthropic contributions
- Strong knowledge of donor relations and corporate philanthropy strategies
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Experience working with Boards, volunteers and community stakeholders
- Familiarity with CRM donor management systems and fundraising software
- Must have passion for the foundation’s mission and commitment to social impact
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive innovative fundraising approaches
- Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze fundraising performance metrics
