HumCap's client, a rapidly growing healthcare company, backed by private equity investment, is committed to providing innovative solutions and exceptional patient care. As they scale their operations, they are looking for an experienced and dynamic Controller to join the Finance team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on finance professional with experience in high-growth environments, particularly in the healthcare sector. This role will be instrumental in supporting financial operations, maintaining financial controls, and ensuring compliance as we continue to expand. This role is based in Frisco, TX.

Job Summary :

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining robust internal controls. As a key member of the Finance team, the Controller will manage financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, particularly within a healthcare or private equity-backed environment, and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.

Key Responsibilities :

Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) :

  • Oversee RCM Financial Reporting : Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of all revenue cycle activities, including billing, collections, and reimbursement processes, to maintain financial health and optimize cash flow.
  • Analyze RCM Performance : Regularly assess key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the revenue cycle, such as days in accounts receivable (AR), denial rates, and collection rates, and work with relevant teams to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure Compliance with Billing and Coding Standards : Ensure proper billing, coding, and documentation practices are followed to maximize reimbursements while remaining compliant with healthcare regulations (e.g., CMS, payer contracts).
  • Collaborate with Clinical and Administrative Teams : Partner with clinical and administrative departments to identify and resolve discrepancies, optimize billing processes, and streamline patient account management for more accurate and timely reimbursements.
  • Financial Reporting :

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they are accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP.

  • Present financial performance and variances to senior management, providing insights into business performance and key metrics.
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning processes.
  • Accounting Operations :
  • Oversee daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

  • Ensure accuracy of financial transactions and compliance with regulatory requirements in a highly regulated healthcare industry.
  • Manage and improve internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and financial integrity.
  • Private Equity Reporting & Compliance :
  • Support the preparation of quarterly investor reports and other financial documents required by private equity investors.

  • Ensure compliance with private equity-backed company financial requirements and reporting standards.
  • Assist in managing audits, tax filings, and external financial reviews.
  • Cash Flow Management :
  • Oversee cash management processes to ensure the company maintains optimal liquidity to support operations and growth initiatives.

  • Coordinate with senior management to track cash flow, monitor working capital, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Team Leadership :
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, ensuring high performance and professional growth.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing financial insights and support for strategic decision-making.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency :
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting and finance functions to drive efficiency and scalability.

  • Implement best practices and automate manual processes where possible.
  • Other duties as required to support the company’s growth and financial health.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry or with private equity-backed companies is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, etc.), Microsoft Excel, and other financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to provide actionable insights based on financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership and investors.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to drive change, implement processes, and improve financial systems.
