Our Story…

Humphry Slocombe was born and bred in San Francisco, opening our first shop in 2008. We now have 9 shops across the Bay Area, an Events team, and pints at specialty grocery stores. Everyone loves to ask our founders, “which one of you is Humphry and which one is Slocombe?” The answer is neither of them. Inspired by their love of British comedy, Humphry Slocombe is named after the two lead characters (Mr. Humphries and Mrs. Slocombe) from the fabulous 1970’s BBC sitcom “Are You Being Served?” Another question we often hear is “Why all the unusual flavors?” We don’t really think of our flavors as unusual and that’s why we let our guests sample everything we have. Everything. There’s no better way to educate guests about how interesting ice cream can be than to get them to try it.

Here is what we do everyday

We take the time to plan our week by considering all the important parts of our business. We start everyday with that plan in mind and with clear intentions for the day, we layer on the daily floor coverage operations. We are front of house leaders and that means we are hands on with customer service, team member coaching and store operations. Before we open our doors we make sure every step our customers take from the sidewalk to the dip case and everything in between is as good as the quality and flavors of our ice cream. Once our doors are open whether we are making the perfect scoop, float or sundae we have a personal responsibility to get it right for the customer and to live up to all the hard work it took to get the ice cream to the shops. During the day we ensure our actions and those of our team match our operations and business plans for the day. At the end of the day we take the time to reflect on how we can improve for tomorrow.

Basic Qualifications

• 1-2 Years of progressive leadership experience in a quick serve restaurant environment.
• Ability to create an inclusive, respectful and equitable workplace.
• Have a deep understanding of what makes you successful and have the ability to teach others how you do it.
• Ability to analyze business results and link those results to the day to day shop operations.
• Ability to prioritize and plan to continuously improve business results and operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Basic Requirements

• Stand, walk, stoop, kneel and bend at the waist for extended periods of time
• Ability to work 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Ability to regularly work evenings and weekends
• Get your Food Handler Card before you start
• Operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment
• Grasp, finger, reach and scoop
