Cook Job Description

Title: Cook Reports To: Lead/Manager

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food with precision and consistency, ensuring high-quality meals for guests. The role involves following recipes, maintaining cleanliness, and working efficiently to support smooth kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation & Cooking

• Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other menu items using appropriate cooking methods (grilling, frying, baking, etc.).
• Follow portion control and cooking procedures to maintain food quality and consistency.
• Ensure proper labeling of prepped items with date and initials.
• Take full responsibility for the quality of food served.
• Kitchen Operations & Efficiency

• Complete opening and closing checklists.
• Refer to daily prep lists and ensure all necessary items are ready.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels at each workstation for smooth service.
• Rotate and store food properly to prevent waste and maintain freshness.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness

• Keep workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and sanitary.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of all food products.
• Load, run, and unload the dish machine; clean dish area and sinks.
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure food safety compliance.
• Teamwork & Service Support

• Occasionally assist servers by taking orders, delivering food, or clearing tables.
• Assist in food prep assignments during slow periods.
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
• Attend all scheduled team meetings and contribute improvement ideas.
• Be available to assist in other areas of the restaurant as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Preferred: 2 years of kitchen experience; at least 6 months in a similar role.
• Strong communication skills with managers, kitchen, and dining staff.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods (up to 9 hours).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $20.00 per hour
