Packed is a new business concept hatched out of Hunsicker, an impact venture studio in Lexington, KY. Packed offers convenient, tasty, and nutritious pre-assembled school lunches for kids and teachers alike. Up until now, Packed's model has been partnering with schools directly, through which we then market our offerings directly to their families. Through our Packed website, individual families are able to preorder and prepay for meals for their luncher(s) of their choosing, which are then prepared, personalized and delivered directly to the school where they'll be consumed. Kids are treated like customers in a restaurant, empowered by making their own food choices and getting customized servings. And as a benefit to families, Packed lunches eliminate the headache of lost or dirty lunch boxes! Parents and school staff can have peace of mind that kids are getting everything their brains and bodies need to be happy and well-nourished.

Packed launched initially in the spring of 2024 by piloting our lunch services at a private school in Lexington. By the end of the pilot, Packed was serving over half of eligible students every week. Packed is now partnered with 3 schools in the area, at 4 campuses. As a way of attracting more customers while we continue to establish partnerships with schools, beginning in Jan 2025, we will be launching a new direct-to-consumer offering of Packed lunches of the same wholesome, freshly-made and tasty caliber we’ve become known for, but now delivered straight to households for the week. Role Summary

As the Kitchen Team Weekend Shift Lead, you will lead the weekend operations of Packed’s production and delivery work streams to produce and deliver Packed’s direct-to-consumer home-delivered school lunch subscription offering. This will involve overseeing and actively participating in the preparation, packaging, and labeling of ready-to-go school lunches that have been preordered in the Lexington, KY area. The Weekend Shift Lead will collaborate with Packed’s Kitchen Operations Manager to manage the direct to consumer product line, including inventory management, labor management, and customer orders and fulfillment oversight. The production of these meals will be concentrated on the weekends, with home delivery to customers completed on Sundays. This position will manage operations and weekend kitchen team members to ensure the Packed direct-to-consumer finished products are high quality, accurate, and prepared in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner.

Specifics of the role include the following :

• Prepares food neatly, accurately, and in a timely manner
• Demonstrates an understanding of menu items and an ability to read prep sheets and translate into appropriate actions
• Adheres to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation practices while preparing food and cleaning
• Stocks, organizes, cleans, and delegates these tasks where appropriate to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen space
• Performs light paperwork and / or other assigned duties
• Manages direct reports, including assigning tasks, overseeing performance, and providing feedback as needed to stay on task and on time
• Coordinates specifics of ordering, inventory, and prep tasks across multiple shifts where individual may not actually be working, requiring strong collaboration and communication with the Kitchen Operations Manager
• Ability to drive (with a clean driving record) along with a reliable personal vehicle in order to deliver meals to households  as needed

This role will start as a part-time position that requires a commitment to Saturday and Sunday days at Packed’s commercial kitchen facility in Lexington, Kentucky. The role may potentially convert to full-time in the future. The ideal candidate will begin ASAP.
