The Role : Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Associate or Counsel | Palo Alto, CA

We are seeking an experienced Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Associate or Counsel with at least seven years of relevant experience to join a prestigious international law firm in its Palo Alto, CA office. In this position, you will :

Draft and negotiate advertising-related agreements, including influencer, celebrity endorsement, sponsorship, ad agency, and media buying contracts.
Review advertising content to ensure compliance with laws related to false advertising, claim substantiation, intellectual property, and publicity rights.
Counsel clients on compliance for contests, sweepstakes, subscription programs, and loyalty / rewards programs.
Advise clients on consumer protection and marketing issues across diverse industries.
Defend clients against allegations of false advertising, unfair competition, and other regulatory challenges.
Stay ahead of emerging trends and legal developments in advertising and consumer protection law.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience and Expertise

Years of Practice : Minimum of 7 years of experience in advertising law, consumer protection, and marketing transactions.

Substantive Knowledge : Expertise in drafting agreements, compliance counseling, and dispute resolution.

Preferred Background : Experience with false advertising, unfair competition, and National Advertising Division disputes is a plus.

Educational Credentials

Juris Doctor (JD) : Degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.

Bar Membership : Active California bar license or eligibility to waive in.

Core Competencies

Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.

Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and meet deadlines.

Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills for complex legal challenges.
