The Role : Lateral Associate - Tax | New York, NY

We are seeking a Tax Associate from law school class years 2019 to 2021 to join a prestigious and expanding tax practice in New York, NY. This position offers the opportunity to engage in groundbreaking tax law matters, work directly with industry leaders, and tackle complex issues in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Practice Expertise and Focus

The Tax Practice Group is widely recognized for its excellence in addressing intricate and innovative tax matters across various industries. Key areas of focus include :

Strategic and Private Equity M&A Transactions : Structuring and advising on mergers, acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts.
Capital Markets Transactions : Providing guidance on IPOs, spin-offs, and other public offerings.
Investment Fund Formation : Structuring funds to ensure compliance and maximize tax efficiency.
Real Estate Tax Matters : Handling tax implications for acquisitions, developments, and joint ventures.
Tax Controversy : Representing clients in disputes with tax authorities and negotiating favorable resolutions.

In this position, you will :

Advise clients on complex tax matters by applying technical knowledge and creative solutions.

Research, draft, and analyze tax-related legal opinions, agreements, and reports.

Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on high-profile transactions in M&A, capital markets, real estate, and fund formation.

Represent clients in interactions with regulatory agencies and during public speaking engagements.

Build and maintain strong client relationships through direct interaction and tailored legal strategies.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who bring the following qualifications and attributes :

Experience and Expertise

Experience Level : Law school graduate from 2019 to 2021 with a solid foundation in technical tax law, research, and writing.

Transactional Expertise : Hands-on experience in M&A, capital markets, fund formation, or real estate tax matters.

Educational Credentials

Juris Doctor (JD) : Degree from a top-tier, accredited law school with excellent academic performance.

Additional Certifications : An LLM in Taxation is a plus but not mandatory.

Core Competencies

Technical Acumen : Exceptional skills in legal research, drafting, and strategic problem-solving.

Creative Thinking : Proven ability to address novel and complex tax challenges with innovative solutions.
