The Role : Patent Prosecution Associate - Life Sciences | Washington, D.C.

We are seeking a skilled and driven Patent Prosecution Associate - Life Sciences to join one of our prestigious clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on groundbreaking intellectual property matters for some of the worlds most recognized technology and life sciences companies.

In this position, you will :

Prepare and prosecute patent applications related to cutting-edge life sciences innovations, including organic chemistry, gene therapy, oncology, and molecular biology.
Draft persuasive office action responses and work closely with inventors to understand their discoveries and strengthen patent claims.
Provide strategic counsel to clients regarding patent portfolio management and IP protection strategies.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure client success in securing patent rights.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Were looking for candidates who bring :

Experience : At least 1 years of legal practice experience, preferably at a law firm, in patent prosecution for life sciences innovations.

Credentials : JD from an accredited law school, USPTO bar membership (or eligibility), and active state bar admission (or eligibility) in Washington, D.C.

Expertise : A PhD (or MD with research experience) in fields such as organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cell biology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, oncology, gene editing, or a related discipline.

Communication : Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Analytical Acumen : Strong ability to draft patent applications and respond to office actions with persuasive legal arguments.
