A Brief Overview
The Procurement Director develops, executes, and tracks strategic sourcing goals across HMC Operations. This role is responsible for building close relationships with all stakeholders across in-scope categories of spend. This role manages and coordinates the strategic sourcing efforts across all in-scope categories and assure the alignment to the business needs. This position is responsible for the design, development, and execution of all Procurement processes, as well as the definition of policies, procedures and enabling tools that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Procurement organization. This position interfaces with all stakeholders as new methods to execute the procurement process are developed and rolled out. The role monitors spend compliance with preferred programs and report to internal stakeholders. Responsible for procurement of new vehicles within the portfolio and fleet operations. This role will also be integral part in technology selections, implementation, and governance for the Procurement function. Additional responsibilities include National contract negotiations and execution, customer support, and issue resolution.
What you will do
- Develops and institutionalizes the strategic sourcing process across HMC business for identified categories.
- Manages categories and track category performance in terms of savings and working capital.
- Oversees and manages supplier performance process.
- Works with departmental personnel to ensure data accuracy, service and products being sourced/ procured, provide customer relationship support and track vendor performance.
- Provides business with spend savings analysis across identified categories for forecasts and budgeting purposes.
- Builds relationships with stakeholders to assist with vendor management, project goals, actions, and results.
- Helps promote efficient and effective procurement practices and processes using continuous improvement methodologies.
- Develops strategic alliances with preferred suppliers/partners.
- Monitors costs, reports savings, and performance metrics to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Asseses elements of the supply base and assists with defining, executing, and supporting strategic sourcing and procurement decisions.
- Defines yearly strategic goals for the HMC Operations across customer service metrics, compliance to policy and year over year efficiency savings.
- Delivers operating cost savings (e.g. to improve productivity and lower transactional costs of overall purchase order processing and support services) to meet annual objectives.
- Develops quarterly reporting to show a snapshot of procurement activities.
- Assists in Strategic Sourcing activities by collecting and performing a high-level analysis of spend data and reporting.
- Develops and issues RFI and RFP.
- Collaborates with leadership and other stakeholders (e.g., Project Accountants, Asset Management, Maintenance & Safety Director, etc.) to define procedures.
- Designs, documents, implements and executes standard processes governing the end-to-end procurement cycle from strategic sourcing through receipt of goods/services in concert with HMC Operation goals.
- Defines and executes procurement programs ensuring compliance of HMC policies and procedures.
- Participates in all procurement related initiatives.
- Ensures the effective delivery of procurement services including goal alignment, development, metrics, and reporting.
- Ensures Buyers are executing purchasing & tactical buying transactions in compliance with policies & procedures and sourcing strategies.
- Oversees the development of sourcing strategies, industry and supplier research, bidding, supplier selection and National vendor’s contract negotiations.
- This position requires driving for the Company using either 1) a Company vehicle, at any frequency from Rarely to Constantly; or, 2) a Personal or Rental vehicle to conduct Company business more than 50% of the time to perform work duties.
- Responsible for procurement of new fleet vehicles and overall fleet management operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field from accredited college or university. Required and
- MBA Preferred
- Minimum 8-10 years of purchasing experience, including relevant industry experience with managing a procurement department. Required and
- 4-6 years experience managing or leading teams. Required

- Ability to think strategically through to execution.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and creating something new, something that does not currently exist.

- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Internet navigation and research; and HRIS, preferably Workday.

- Leadership and personnel development skills and the ability to present at a high level.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to interact professionally with a wide range of different people in a variety of situations while upholding all company policies, goals, and values.

Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience.
