Our client, a plant-based wellness company with a portfolio of cannabis and hemp operations throughout the US, is seeking an experienced Director of M&A to analyze and drive new business acquisitions.


Must have strong M&A background, cannabis industry and/or Food & Beverage CPG industry experience a plus.


Austin-based strongly preferred.


Position Responsibilities

  • New acquisition diligence and analysis.
  • Perform valuation analyses to assess potential targets.
  • Analyze and interpret financial statements, cash flows, and other relevant business metrics of potential targets.
  • Assess the strategic fit and financial performance of M&A targets.
  • Conduct research on companies and markets to identify potential M&A targets.
  • Analyze competitive landscapes and emerging trends to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist in the coordination and execution of the due diligence process, including reviewing the financial, legal and operational aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Prepare financial reports, presentations and transaction summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain internal tools and processes for tracking all active, inactive and closed M&A activities.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of M&A strategies and initiatives.
  • Keep apprised on market trends, industry developments and regulatory changes impacting investment activities.
  • Support new venture initiatives including deal sourcing, project management, and event logistics.


Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or any business degree.
  • Transaction review, advisory and M&A experience.
  • Expert financial modeling and valuation skills.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to define and structure problems, collect and analyze data, and synthesize defendable recommendations into an action plan.
  • Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems.
  • Excellent quantitative, written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a team focused mentality.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a challenging fast paced environment.
  • Critical, analytical thinking skills and ability to make decisions using good judgement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
