What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leasing Agent position at Hunter Properties?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meeting potential renters and guiding them on tours of available units
- Following up on leads for potential renters
- Performing background checks, credit checks and other responsibilities to see if prospective renters are qualified
- Preparing leasing documents for potential renters using property standards and regulations
- Handling the collection of rent payments, security deposits and application fees
- Keeping residents informed of any changes to rental agreements or upcoming property issues
- Building a rapport with current tenants to give them personalized service
- Keeping an eye on community facilities such as mailrooms, fitness centers and laundry rooms
- Base pay is during training and for office work - signed leases earn commissions.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1 year of experience
- Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak and interpret rules, procedures, routine reports/correspondence and to speak effectively with groups of employees and/or residents.
- Math Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compare rate, ratio and percentages and interpret basic graphs.
- Reasoning Skills – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems that involve concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills – Intermediate experience with MS Office. Intermediate experience with property management software.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Annually attend fair housing among other classes.
- Ongoing professional development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Rarely must stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally must sit and reach with hands/arms and be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- Regularly must use hands to finger/handle/feel, talk and hear.
- Close and distance vision is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Normally works in an environment with moderate noise.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
