Description : We are looking for a motivated and eager-to-learn Technician to join our IT team, specifically supporting the Hunterdon Central community of staff, students, and administration. Under the guidance and mentorship of our Network Administrator and Senior Support Specialist, you will assist in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network and client systems, managing Active Directory, and handling printer maintenance (both hardware and server). This role is an excellent opportunity to develop your network administration skills while supporting the daily operations of a dynamic educational environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in Network Installation & Configuration : Help install and configure network hardware, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, following best practices and senior technician instructions to support the Hunterdon Central community's needs.
- Network Troubleshooting : Support the team in monitoring and troubleshooting network issues, identifying connectivity problems, and learning how to resolve common network issues under supervision for staff, students, and administration.
- System Maintenance : Aid in performing regular system updates, patching, and backups to maintain security and performance, ensuring network devices and systems are running optimally for all users.
- Technical Support : Provide basic technical support to end users, including staff, students, and administration, assisting with network and client -related problems like connectivity issues, VPN access, and software-related problems.
- Network Security Assistance : Learn and assist with implementing and maintaining network security protocols, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection / prevention systems, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and systems.
- Documentation : Help document network configurations, updates, and issues, ensuring that accurate records are kept for future reference, troubleshooting, and compliance with educational and administrative requirements.
- Collaboration : Work closely with the senior network technician and other IT team members to ensure seamless operation of the network and client systems across the school campus.
- Active Directory Management : Assist in managing Active Directory users and groups, helping with user access permissions, group policy updates, and account maintenance, ensuring appropriate access for staff, students, and administrators.
- Printer Maintenance (Hardware & Server) : Assist with maintaining network printers, including both hardware and server-side configurations, ensuring they are operational, troubleshooting issues, and managing print queues for staff and students.
- Support for Staff, Students, and Administration : Provide hands-on IT support to staff, students, and administration to resolve network and client related technical issues in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to educational and administrative activities.
- Learning & Development : Participate in training and mentorship to develop technical skills, including network diagnostics, troubleshooting techniques, and industry best practices, while applying this knowledge to support the educational community.
