Since 1963, Hunter's Ambulance Service has provided Central and Southern Connecticut with unparalleled patient care and transportation services. With a staff of over 225 highly trained professionals, Hunter's stands ready to meet the varied transportation and pre-hospital patient care needs of individuals and communities. The company operates five locations across central and southern Connecticut and provides both emergency and nonemergency medical care to facilities and communities throughout the state.

Position Summary:


The Director is responsible for the overall direction, planning, implementation, and maintenance of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the communities and facilities served by Hunter's Ambulance while providing high quality, cost-effective service. The Director develops and is accountable for Hunter's strategy and goals, objectives and standards, and budget ensuring high quality, cost-effective service is delivered in support of the organization's strategic plan, goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Preparation and management of the operational budgets of all service components, including the annual preparation of budgets and capital requests to ensure appropriate and effective allocation of resources to support operations
  • Responsible for strategic planning, and development of organizational goals. Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategies
  • Collaborates with leaders across HHC and external stakeholders to implement operational and programmatic strategies
  • Directs the development of policies, procedures, financial strength and staffing plans to ensure effective and efficient daily operations and long-term effectiveness
  • Oversees and maintains accountability for compliance with all regulatory standards including local, state, and federal laws
  • Manages the operational activities of HAS including management of department Managers and Supervisors. Provides developmental opportunities for employees through a comprehensive orientation program, in-service programs, clear performance standards and appropriate feedback through the performance appraisal process
  • Acts as liaison with internal and community EMS stakeholders
  • Responsible for annual State Inspections and subsequent Service and Vehicle licensing for Connecticut

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administration or related field is required
  • Five plus years of progressive leadership experience with expertise in operational aspects of healthcare
  • Five plus years of EMS Services experience
  • Certified/licensed EMT or Paramedic is required
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, grow engagement, manage multiple and diverse relationships, and influence both internal and external organizations, leaders, and colleagues
  • Able to prioritize work by making informed judgments and to develop solutions for complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and present material, documents and instill confidence in the content that is being provided to Executive Leaders, other leaders and colleagues
  • Independently analyze, manage change in a fast-paced environment and solve a variety of difficult situations, problem events, and emergencies
