The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for general accounting responsibilities.
Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible to:
- Responsible for Accounts Receivable invoicing, cash receipts application and collections of overdue accounts to include reformatting invoices and reconciliation to PO’s if required by customer.
- Responsible for Accounts Payable entry for PO and Non-PO invoices, credit memos, accruing Texas Use Tax where applicable, compiling wires with support and proposing weekly check run for approval.
- Responsible for review and proposed changes to coding for credit card transactions for departments and general ledger.
- Review and book daily bank transactions review and update to Lockbox reporting in Teams and clearing entries for checks presented.
- Validation and creation of credit memos.
- Assist with month-end, semi-annual and year-end closing and producing related reports.
- Assist as needed on periodic audits.
- Process weekly check runs for Accounts Payable.
- Filing, Scanning and upkeep of vendor files to include support for Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
- Other tasks, duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Finance & Accounting Manager.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required: Experience with D365 (formerly Microsoft Dynamics AX)
- Preferred: Associates or BBA Degree (or equivalent) in accounting preferred but not required.
- 2 to 5 years general accounting experience with a focus on accounts receivable and payable processes, light journal entries, and reconciliations. Experience with an ERP system is preferred.
- Intermediate level of Excel experience to include basic formulas.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to respond to common inquiries and/or common inquiries and/or complaints from customers regulatory agencies, or members of the management.
- Ability to work with fundamentals of Accounting and General Business Acumen. Ability to respond to common inquiries and/or complaints from vendors, regulatory agencies; or members of the management.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must have experience using ERP software and a demonstrated understanding of the MS Office Suite of productivity tools.
