Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Instructor to join our educational team. Qualifications:
· Four years minimum verifiable field experience in CIP CIP-related industry
· Current clearances as per HCCTC school policy
· Working towards Vocational Instruction requirement
Work Conditions:
· 185 days contracted employee
· Work hours based on CBA
· Limited telework available as per remote work policy, upon approval
· Salary and additional benefits as defined in CBA
Primary Responsibilities:
· Broaden area of knowledge and keep abreast of the latest trends in education and industry
· Instruct students in the Career and Technical Education course assignments
Primary Tasks:
· Instruct students by lecture, demonstration, laboratory and shop exercise, and actual production work whenever possible
· Counsel students in the educational program and advise them about occupational opportunities
· Develop a specific curriculum to include a course of study, trade analysis, lesson plans, resource materials, visual aids, field trips, resource people, and shop and class learning activities
· Administer tests, either written or practical exercises, to evaluate the instructional program and students' progress within that program and record and report student progress to home school’s guidance personnel and parents
· Keep attendance records
· Maintain clean orderly classrooms and shopping areas
· Develop, initiate, and actively supervise an accident prevention program and safety education
· Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training
· Prepare yearly inventories and prepare requests for classroom and shop instructional materials, supplies, and equipment
· Meet with the Occupational Advisory Committee and maintain a record of meetings
· Utilize recommendations of the Occupational Advisory Committee to upgrade course content
· Perform related duties such as advising student organizations
· Supervise students enrolled in their course who are participating in a Cooperative Education Program
· Maintain a shop accounting system within the general activities accounts for their course areas
· May instruct courses in adult education
· Work with other instructors to coordinate courses given by other departments
· Provide home-bound instruction for students as the need arises
· Supervise and aid students in preparing information materials as requested by the school
· Instills a wholesome attitude in students towards the world of work, school, community, and Country
· Conduct a yearly survey of the employment status of former students
Physical Requirements:
· Able to stand for long periods
· Lifting 25 lbs. on occasion and up to 50 lbs. max within safety standards
· Speak clearly and understand the speech of others
· Requires occasional climbing, bending, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, finger dexterity, grasping, and repetitive motions
· Required to function within the specific physical requirements of the vocational trade
Training Requirements:
· Mandated Reporting – 5 Years
· Act 44 Trainings – 5 years
· Penn State and PDE requirements for a Vocational Instructor
· Additional training/clearances as required by PDE, JOC, and HCCTC
