Job Announcement - Community Response Advocate
General Description: The candidate will provide training, outreach, and awareness to confront domestic violence throughout Huntingdon County.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - A high school diploma or GED-equivalent required, and with preference for college degree in related fields of social work, psychology, counseling or other human-related fields.
Work Experience - a minimum of one-year work experience or internship/volunteer experience in social work or human services related field which would include:
● Knowledge of domestic violence prevention and education
● Proficient interpersonal and communication skills
● Demonstrated ability to establish professional relationships with staff, clients, volunteers and community partners
● Knowledge of available community resources is a plus
● Flexibility and the ability to deal with daily crisis
● Moderate computer skills and a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License are required

● the provision of Domestic Violence services from a feminist perspective;
● the struggle against ageism, classism, racism, ableism, homophobia and heterosexism and gender bias, including ways to support and involve people of all racial, social, ethnic, religious, cultural and economic groups
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide Domestic Violence training to new staff members
2. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
3. Provide continuing education training to staff and volunteers
4. Develop and coordinate agency outreach activities, with priority to those that relate to coordinated community response, such as participation in local/regional events
5. Develop and oversee social media campaigns
6. Seek out new community contacts and maintain traditional media contacts and campaigns
7. Assist with coordination and presentation of agency presentations to community groups/agencies
8. Attend community events and relevant meetings
9. Provide Direct Service to clients
10. Provide hotline duties after hours and on weekends
11. Participate in staff meetings
12. Candidate will be cross-trained to provide all Huntingdon House advocate duties
13. Cooperates with, participates in and supports adherence to Huntingdon House’s mission/goals and all internal policies and procedures of the agency.
PERSONAL CAREER/GROWTH:
1. Completes the 45-hour counselor advocate training as provided by Huntingdon House.
2. Attends, participates in at least 10 hours of training, workshops, conferences, webinars or seminars per fiscal year.
3. Attends regional and state meetings related to victim services; and work with PCADV/PCCD for continued training in domestic violence.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Monday through Friday–8am-4pm
2. Occasional after-hours coverage.
3. Also provides weekend hotline coverage on a rotation basis with agency staff

OTHER INFORMATION:
1. Employees are required to occasionally attend out of town meetings and/or overnight trainings.

3. Employees are required to balance multiple assignments.
4. Work independently, but also function as a team member.
5. Represent the agency to the public and the professional community in a positive manner.
