Position Title: Librarian Technician

Introduction
The Librarian Technician (LT) at Huntington County Community School Corporation is an integral part of the Technology Integration team both at the district level and the building level. HCCSC philosophy is that technology is to be an accelerator throughout the district in a blended learning environment. It is also the role of the LT to support the development of teacher competencies and effective use of technology, as outlined in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
Job Summary
The Librarian Technician will be responsible for overseeing the library, maintaining inventory, assisting with student check-in and check-out of library materials and overall organization within the library. LT will also assist HCCSC students and staff with essential technology integration priorities within their assigned buildings and throughout the district with special emphasis placed on supporting the 1-1 initiative and safety (digital citizenship). The Librarian Technician roles will also include the processing of 1-1 devices and assisting students and teachers with basic troubleshooting skills.
Employment Requirements
- Associate degree or higher preferred. In lieu of Associate degree, successful completion of the ParaPro Exam (administered by HCCSC)
- High level skill set with experience in various technology hardware and software programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with Students, Teachers, Principals, and Director of Technology.
- A desire to learn and grow with the district in the area of technology integration.
Accountability
A person holding the position of Librarian Technician within Huntington County Community School Corporation will report to the Technology Director. The Librarian Technician will receive training and direction from the curriculum and technology departments regarding program implementation through the Technology Integration Specialist or designee.

Essential Job Duties
- Knowledge of school library, literature, awards within the literature world, and other materials found in a library.
- Support HCCSC 1-1 initiative by processing damaged devices as well as troubleshooting issues.
- Knowledge of effective strategies in working with children in a STEM/STEAM environment with an emphasis on MakerSpace.
- Ability to utilize computers and technology to maintain inventory, including level library, update records, place orders for materials for the school library and MakerSpace.
- Develop and maintain school website with training and support through Technology Integration Specialist or designee.
- Ability to coordinate school-wide book fairs. Work with the building principal to schedule this at least one time per year.
- Assists students in finding reading material for research projects.
- Assists teachers with finding materials to align with their classroom units as well as assisting students on specific technology skills as they relate to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to accelerate classroom learning.
- Meet, collaborate, and communicate with the Technology Integration Specialist concerning the needs of students and staff of assigned buildings in the area of school improvement and training related to technology integration.
- Relate well with students, staff, and parents.
- Meets all aspects of the Classified Employee Handbook.
