Expectations:
Under the direction of the Director, Risk Management Services, the Risk Manager, Clinical plans, organizes, administers and controls activities that assist Huntington Health to identify and manage risk holistically by considering all forms of risk across the organization. The Risk Manager, Clinical supports the effective use of resources to reduce preventable patient, employee and visitor adverse occurrences and injuries. This position works to minimize the financial severity of fortuitous loss and supports the development, implementation, administration, review and communication of policies and procedures associated with risk related to healthcare operations, patient safety, healthcare law and regulation, risk financing, loss prevention, loss control, patient rights and other risk management issues in the Huntington Health organization. Provides advice and acts as a resource to administration, medical, and nursing staff related to risk management services. This position may require flexibility of hours.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or Clinical License required, CPHRM certification within 1 year of hire.
Advanced degree (Masters or Juris Doctor) preferred.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in either healthcare risk management, quality, regulatory, patient safety, process improvement (PI) or healthcare related legal work required risk management experience preferred.
Claims Handling Experience Preferred.
Customer service skills needed.
Experience With Word Processing, Spreadsheet And Graphical Presentations Required.
Complex problem-solving skills needed.
Knowledge and application of pertinent healthcare regulatory requirements and statutes preferred.
Ability to interact with executives and managerial staff needed.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or within 1 year of hire
Preferred:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) issued by State of California.
SKILLS:
Demonstrate initiative, good judgment and organizational skills.
