Our Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain procedures and put patients at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality PET images/studies possible, enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence.


This PET Technologist position has a varied schedule, and is located at our Imaging Center in Pasadena!


Each shift will be 8 hours long and the hours will be:

  • Monday - Friday: 8am-5pm (variable when needed)
  • Saturday rotation (2/month)


Pay range: $55/hour - $65/hour


What You Will Do:

Performs Positron Emission Tomography (PET) radiographic examinations according to accepted department protocols, policy and procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to assigned patient population, and participates in related continuing education.


Other duties include:

  • Communicate procedures to patients with a caring attitude and keen attention to detail,
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the exam.
  • Use technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality PET images/studies possible—enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence.
  • Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, etc. and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with radioactive materials/patients.
  • Produces high quality diagnostic images.
  • Effectively communicates with customers and/or radiologists.
  • Trains new technologists and/or PC's
  • Trouble-shoots the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).
  • Receives and assays isotope doses for PET and for Sentinel Node injections at Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center (RBC).
  • Takes doses to RBC as needed.
  • Keeps hot lab neat, orderly, and in compliance.
  • Records doses as needed.
  • Completes paperwork and billing functions.
  • Follows policies concerning quality assurance.
  • Satisfactorily meets work performance expectations as stated in the policy personnel, technologist evaluation.
  • Assists office staff with scheduling patients and preparing and maintaining patient records.
  • Maintains the appropriate amount of continuing medical education units set forth by the ARRT.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Keeps PET suite clean, stocked and prepared for all procedures.


What You Will Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N) required
  • CT license/certification (preferred)
  • State license, as required
  • CPR certification required
  • 1-2 years PET imaging experience or 1-2 years experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies required
  • 1-2 years as a CT technologist (preferred)
  • Local travel may be required
