Mission Technologies (MT), a division of HII, is seeking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support operations at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL).

This full-time position is on-site at NRL on the Maryland side of the Potomac near the southern-most part of Washington DC.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and / or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs. May be responsible for the transfer from R and D to manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field or fifteen (15) years experience and be recognized in the field of pulsed power engineering
• Experience in fielding and carrying out experiments on pulsed power generators, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and in carrying out analysis of the data
• Ability to lead technicians in operation and maintenance of pulsed power systems
• Must be able to participate in team-based research and development
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret clearance

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
