Compensation Range
125,000-255,000 annually
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. - Working closely with other attorneys in the Legal Department as well as Huntington colleagues in Compliance, Risk and the business segments, you will:
- Provide legal advice and counsel to Home Lending & Consumer Lending and Loan Servicing business segments with a focus on mortgage and home equity servicing.
- Interact with management and advise business segments on complex legal and regulatory issues involving the design, administration, internal operations, and regulatory environment applicable to mortgage and home equity products and possibly other consumer lending products.
- Coordinate complex projects involving different business segments and assist the business segments in the resolution of complex issues, products, and strategies, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Draft, review and/or negotiate standard non-disclosure agreements, customer agreements, correspondent agreements and loan sale agreements.
- Assist with response to escalated complaints, regulatory inquiries, and threatened litigation.
- Advise on operational issues, access and support training programs in the business segments, and provide analysis and input with respect to business projects and conformity with applicable legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Juris Doctor Degree
- 8 years relevant in-house or law firm experience specializing in mortgage and home equity lending and/or servicing issues
- 8 years of strong working knowledge of consumer lending laws including Truth in Lending Act/Regulation Z, RESPA/Regulation Z, Homeowners Protection Act, ECOA/Regulation B, Fair Housing Act, UDAAP, state consumer protection laws, GSE seller-servicer guidelines, and/or FHA guidelines
- Must be eligible to become licensed as a corporate counsel in or otherwise admitted to the Bar in Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, or North Carolina.
- Experience representing entities regulated by federal banking agencies or experience representing such agencies.
- Fair lending experience and experience working with limited English proficiency programs.
- Experience reviewing consumer lending marketing materials.
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills; written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate timelines, delivery dates and resolve conflicts.
