Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Lawyer Recruiting Manager. This position works in conjunction with other members of Lawyer Recruiting and Development to oversee lawyer recruitment, lawyer services, diversity-related initiatives and professional development for designated offices and/or teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Oversees all firm processes, policies and best practices for lateral lawyer hiring, approvals, recruiting, use of search firms, interviewing, selection, and approval of hiring terms and offer letters for Litigation team.
2. Determines Litigation team entry-level, judicial clerkship, and lateral hiring needs. Consults with Team leadership regularly to provide feedback regarding team hiring needs. Keeps all relevant parties apprised of the needs of the team. Independently analyzes, recommends, develops and implements proactive recruiting strategies to meet those needs. Keeps all relevant parties (i.e. the Partner in Charge, the Associate Directors and Senior Managers of Lawyer Recruiting) apprised of such needs.
3. In conjunction with the Associate Director of Lateral Recruiting, assists with partner recruiting efforts firm-wide. Partners with the Executive Committee, and Team and Practice Groups leadership to attract and recruit partner candidates, including ensuring and tracking due diligence, conflicts clearance and reporting on background checks. Oversees scheduling of interviews for partner and counsel candidates firm-wide. Manages marketing campaign and communication with search firms, tracks inquiries and status of partner and counsel searches and market information. Audits Partner HRSS data. Oversees and manages the recruitment process as it relates to Executive Committee consideration and partnership vote, manages and collects evaluations, business plans, EC memos, and due diligence of candidates.
4. Serves as a member of the LRD Due Diligence Team to conduct candidate background and reference checks firm-wide. Works directly with candidates to identify appropriate pre-employment references and conducts and documents pre-employment reference checks, confers with the OGC when necessary, and reports results to appropriate parties. Reviews background check results, confers with the OGC, when necessary, and reports and tracks results. Works with the OGC and Associate Directors of Lawyer Recruiting on training and oversight of Due Diligence policies and procedures team-wide.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects or processes required, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
- Other Qualifications: Travel may be required. Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork. Must possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. Must act as catalyst for change, drive and own results. Creative and innovative. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals. Sound judgment and flexibility. Visual acuity needed to process and read extensive written communications. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. The expected salary range for Washington, DC based employees is $126,300 to $201,900, though salaries for employees based outside of Washington, DC may differ. Beyond an employment candidate's physical location, salary offers may be based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, training and/or experience.
