Job Title: Head 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach / Assistant Softball Coach
Reports To: Athletic Director / Head Basketball Coach / Head Softball Coach / Principal
Contracted Days: 190
Job Summary: The Head 7th Grade Girls' Basketball Coach and Assistant Softball Coach is responsible for leading the 7th-grade program and assisting with the Sr. High program. This role emphasizes athlete development, team culture, and a commitment to student success both on and off the court and field. The coach is expected to plan and implement effective practices, support academic achievement, and foster a positive team environment.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and lead all aspects of the 7th-grade girls' basketball program, including practices, game strategies, and athlete development.
- Assist with all facets of the senior high softball program, encompassing practices, games, and skill instruction.
- Promote sportsmanship, leadership, and academic accountability among student-athletes.
- Collaborate with head coaches to coordinate program goals, training, and athlete transitions between junior high and senior high levels.
- Participate in scouting, film reviews, and opponent preparation as directed.
- Help plan and supervise summer workouts, team camps, and off-season training.
- Attend coaching clinics and engage in professional development to stay current with best practices.
- Facilitate the Pee Wee program and be the school's point of contact for coaches and the league officials
- Assist with fundraising, community engagement, and booster club events.
- Support event supervision, team transportation, and athletic facility maintenance as needed.
- Drive a school vehicle or obtain a CDL within six months of employment if required.
- Maintain student records and adhere to school and district policies.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and extracurricular school activities.
- Maintain communication with students, families, and school staff to foster strong relationships.
- Collaborate with colleagues on instructional planning, assessments, and student support strategies.
- Support students with IEPs, 504s, G/T, ELL, and other individualized learning needs.
- Create a positive classroom culture that supports academic achievement and student growth.
- Assess and evaluate student performance using formal and informal methods.
- Deliver instruction using a variety of teaching methods and media to engage diverse learners.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate student learning and differentiation.
- Teach district-approved curriculum based on Arkansas standards and frameworks.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid Arkansas teaching license or ability to obtain one preferred.
- Coaching experience in basketball and/or softball at the high school level or above.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
