The Patient Access Educator plays a key role in the development and implementation of best practices and standard work for the Patient Access staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital. This position will work in conjunction with Patient Access department leaders to identify and coordinate training and process improvement projects within the Patient Access Department. The individual in this role will utilize data analysis to monitor and communicate progress toward department goals. Additional responsibilities include maintaining content and materials while keeping current on changes within DMH and throughout the industry.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Coordinates and oversees onboarding, ongoing, and on-demand training of all Patient Access staff. May be required to work weekend and night shifts to accomplish training to accommodate all employees.
- Coordinates and oversees onboarding, ongoing and on-demand training for other related departments as needed.
- Acts as a resource for staff
- Monitors employee compliance with Net Learning and Department competencies
- Maintains a collaborative, team relationship with co-workers in order to effectively contribute to the Departments’ achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment.
- Maintains a high level of competency with all patient access applications (Meditech, Phreesia, etc)
- Generates and reviews reports for employee errors
- Audits registrations and registration forms for completeness and accuracy to aid in timely payments of claims.
- Assists in coordination of special events/projects for the Patient Access Department (Doctors’ Day, Patient Access Week, software implementation)
- Proactively relays instructions and shares important information and updates from the leadership team
- Escalates issues to Patient Access leadership when necessary to ensure timely resolution
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
Education / Certification:
High School / GED required. Post-secondary education preferred.
- Experience
Two years customer service strongly preferred. Previous registration, scheduling, insurance, medical records, or billing experience preferred.
- Additional Skills / Abilities
Excellent verbal and written skills required. Must possess ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude. Must demonstrate effective time management skills. Must demonstrate efficiency and organizational skills with the ability to multitask. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred.
