Duties
- Review and analyze medical records to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
- Assign appropriate codes using ICD-10
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and changes in regulations.
- Ensure accuracy in medical billing processes by verifying codes against documentation.
- Assist in the resolution of any discrepancies related to medical collections or billing issues.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance coding skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding, including familiarity with ICD-10
- Strong understanding of medical records management and medical billing processes.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to interpret clinical documentation accurately.
- Experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus but not required.
