What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Care Assistant, Med-Surg, PRN position at Huntsville Hospital System?
Overview
Under the direction of the physicians and clinical staff the Health Care Assistant supports the assigned unit by providing technical patient care services and support related to patients on the nursing unit. Additionally assists staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments with routine patient care activities and clerical support as needed. Patient Care activities include vital signs, activities of daily living, transport, and transfer of patients to include discharge. Clerical support includes directing incoming calls and responding to patient calls, entering patient charges in the computer system, maintaining patient charts, unit files and secretarial supply levels and being responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
Qualifications
Education Required
· High School Diploma or GED required.
Education Preferred
· Prefer candidates have completed at least one of the following: Completed the first quarter or semester of clinicals as a nursing student enrolled in an accredited college; or
· Previously worked as a patient care aide for at least 6 months; or
· Completed the PCA Trainee class; or
· Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at hire.
