Overview
The Huntsville Hospital Pharmacy Technician Training Program is a 10-week paid training program designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills to be a successful pharmacy technician. The program's goal is to develop career pharmacy technicians who assist pharmacists in providing optimal drug therapy for patients. The program is partnered with TRC's Pharmacy Technicians University, who will award a certificate of completion to those who meet all educational objectives. Educational activities include online modules by Pharmacy Technicians University, activities related to the course content conducted across the HH campus, and practical training in the area in which you will be working, including inpatient care at Huntsville Hospital Main or Women's & Children's, Sterile Products, Outpatient Prescription Processing, Mail Order, and Transitions of Care.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required Registration: Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of hire date, and registration must be in good standing "active".
Certification: Employees are expected to obtain national certification with PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) immediately after the completion of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program or ExCPT (Exam for Certification of pharmacy technician). Employees may only remain in the student job code for 6 months. Upon successful examination, the employee will be moved to a certified job code. Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Proficiency in basic math applications and analyses required.
