What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vital Statistics Technician- Medical Records position at Huntsville Hospital System?
Overview
The Vital Statistics Technician:
- Complete or assist with birth certificates and/or required data abstraction for entry into the State of Alabama database system EVERS.
- Complete or assist with death certificates in State of Alabama EDR for Huntsville Hospital deaths according to Center for Vital Statistics guidelines.
- Other medical record departmental duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
HS/GED required.
Experience
Minimum of one-year clerical experience required. Medical Records or physician office experience preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities
Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to use computer, word processing and spreadsheet software, fax machine, and copy machine. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not a requirement.
