Job Title: Senior High Assistant Football Coach (OC or DC) / Track Coach
Reports To: Athletic Director / Head Football Coach / Principal
Contracted Days: 190
Job Summary: The Senior High Assistant Football Coach (Offensive or Defensive Coordinator) and Track Coach is tasked with supporting the athletic and personal development of student-athletes through strategic planning, effective instruction, and mentorship. This role requires expertise in either offensive or defensive football coordination and leadership in track and field. The coach will play a crucial role in preparing athletes for competitive success while fostering discipline, teamwork, academic accountability, and sportsmanship.
Essential Duties:
- Collaborate with the Head Football Coach to develop and implement offensive or defensive strategies.
- Lead daily football practices and assist in conditioning and strength training sessions.
- Coach and supervise athletes in the track program, ensuring safe and effective training methods.
- Conduct film sessions and scout opponents to inform competitive strategy.
- Plan and coordinate off-season training, including summer workouts and team camps.
- Support academic monitoring and encourage student-athlete academic success.
- Model and promote respectful, sportsmanlike conduct on and off the field.
- Participate in coaching clinics, professional development, and district-sponsored training.
- Assist with maintaining athletic equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
- Coordinate and assist with fundraising, team travel, concession stands, and booster club events.
- Drive a school bus to transport students and teams, or be willing to obtain a CDL if not already certified.
- Maintain student records and adhere to school and district policies.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and extracurricular school activities.
- Maintain communication with students, families, and school staff to foster strong relationships.
- Collaborate with colleagues on instructional planning, assessments, and student support strategies.
- Support students with IEPs, 504s, G/T, ELL, and other individualized learning needs.
- Create a positive classroom culture that supports academic achievement and student growth.
- Assess and evaluate student performance using formal and informal methods.
- Deliver instruction using a variety of teaching methods and media to engage diverse learners.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to support student learning and differentiation.
- Teach district-approved curriculum based on Arkansas standards and frameworks.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid Arkansas teaching license or ability to obtain one preferred.
- Coaching experience in football and/or track at the high school level or above.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
