VDC Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:The VDC Technician is responsible for performing a variety of essential job functions to ensure successful project execution. This position requires close collaboration with engineers, clients, and vendors to produce comprehensive drawings, resolve design conflicts, and implement BIM standards. The individual in this role will utilize their proficiency in Revit and other BIM-related software to manage and coordinate models from various stakeholders. Additionally, they will conduct on-site surveys, generate system installation drawings, and participate in project design meetings to contribute valuable insights. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are essential for success in this position. The VDC Technician will play a key role in driving innovation and efficiency in project design and execution.

• Collaborate closely with engineers to produce comprehensive drawings.
• Manage, manipulate, and coordinate models from various stakeholders including customers and consultants.
• Effectively communicate with team members and clients, ensuring clear understanding and alignment.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts across multiple trades.
• Assist in the development and implementation of BIM standards.
• Stay updated on emerging BIM trends and advancements.
• Conduct on-site surveys to verify existing conditions.
• Generate system installation drawings based on field measurements.

• Coordinate with vendors to obtain equipment selections, guided by engineering input.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• A recent graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks is highly desirable.
• Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with computer systems and common software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• A creative mindset and a passion for finding innovative design solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Attributes such as enthusiasm, initiative, creativity, professionalism, and teamwork are essential.
• Willingness to engage in several BIM-related fields.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and safely navigate construction job sites as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to typical office conditions and standard office equipment, such as telephones, personal computers, printers/copiers, reports, and files. The employee will be regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, and type/write. The employee may occasionally need to bend or squat and lift and/or push up to 10 pounds of general office items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as visual scanning between a computer screen and documents.

This position may also require exposure to shop and/or job-site construction environments, where various machines and equipment are in use. The employee may need to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and other safety gear. While on or near work sites, the employee may be required to walk, stand, climb ladders, see, hear, and talk. Quick visual and physical responses to changing worksite conditions are essential.
