Position: Clinical Director

Reports to: CEO

The following serves only as a general outline of the requirements, roles, and responsibilities of a Clinical Directer at Huron Lake Recovery Center.

  • Provide individual and group counseling according to individualized treatment plans and in accordance with professional standards
  • Ensure that HLRC and its programs obtain CARF Accreditation and maintain operations in compliance with LARA,CARF, MCBAP, and any/all other governing bodies.
  • Provide oversight for all clinical staff including nursing staff and contract employees (I.e. peer recovery coaches, licensed therapists, medical doctor psychiatrists, etc)
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate all program activities.
  • Monitor all treatment program admissions, authorizations, and discharge.
  • Create, maintain, and submit accurate records and documents in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques, MDHHS and Contractual requirements.
  • Manage all members of clinical staff, including hiring and evaluating job performance.
  • Provide management for daily operations of the clinical department.
  • Understand and work within HLRC and HLRCs mission statement.
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of HLRC Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate system-wide QI and Clinical Supervisor meetings.
  • Participate on the agency’s management team.
  • Conduct regular clinical team meetings.
  • Maintain a working relationship with MDHHS, Courts and other third-party agencies involved with the placement and treatment of our residents to provide a continuum of care.
  • Coordinate meetings with other mental health provider programs as needed
  • Meet with the CEO for regular supervision.
  • Assist with community presentations, as applicable.

Minimum Requirements:

A successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Passion for mission and philosophy of Huron Lake Recovery Center, along with the knowledge of company history, culture, identity, and goals.
  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
  • Current Michigan Clinical License (LMSW, LLMSW, LLPC, LPC,)
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience with 2 years of substance abuse experience.
  • 2 years of Clinical Supervisor experience. Preferred but not required.
  • Current MCBAP Clinical Supervisor Credentialing (CCS or CCS-DP) Preferred but not required.
  • MCBAP Addiction Counselor Certification (CAADC, CADC-M, CADC) Preferred but not required.
  • Experience and knowledge of direct behavioral health services, including assessment, treatment, and consultation.
  • Knowledge of diverse modalities of counseling and diagnostic principles, and ability to apply counseling and diagnostic theories and techniques to a full range of diverse client populations as well as co-occurring disorders.
  • Current knowledge of clinical research literature.
  • Program development, data, and performance management experience.
  • Ability to build strong teams to meet performance goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Apps and other data management environments.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, poise, empathy.
  • Ability to exercise maturity and boundaries at all times.
  • Maintain professionalism in integration with staff and residents at all times.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

References and Background Checks Required: (References cannot be family members)

  • State and federal sexual offenders
  • ICHAT (Michigan State Police)
  • Michigan Driving Record (Secretary of State). If You have been been a Michigan resident for 5 or less years, you may be required to provide your driving history from the state you previously lived in.
  • Pass an illicit drug and alcohol free screening (including marijuana).
  • Provide 3 references.

Note: Applicants that are a person in recovery must provide proof of clean time. Acceptable references can be your sponsor, a therapist, or two persons in recovery that attend the same recovery support meetings you attend and have at least two years of continuous sobriety/clean time. These two references count only as one reference.

A person with ongoing duties shall be of good moral character, emotionally stable, and of sufficient health, ability, experience, and education to perform the duties assigned.
