What are the responsibilities and job description for the 911 Emergency Dispatcher position at Huron Township Police Department?
- Receives and transmits messages to and from police, fire and emergency medical units, as well as other local government and municipal communications units via two-way radio.
- Receives enhanced 9-1-1 emergency telephone calls for service; evaluates situation to determine appropriate response, and dispatches and advises appropriate response unit.
- Communicates effectively during stressful telephone contacts, dealing effectively with hysterical, injured or disoriented callers.
- Operates the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System.
- Operates the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) computer system via keyboard.
- Visually monitors in-custody Individuals when necessary.
- Works shift assignments including frequent weekends and holidays.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work any shift: Shifts are bid by seniority per union contract with the current opening being 11a-11p.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $46,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
