POSITION DESCRIPTION
Huron Valley Schools is seeking a strategic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Assistant Superintendent to play a key leadership role in shaping the district’s vision for academic excellence, operational efficiency, and student success. This position is a Cabinet level position and will serve as a critical advisor and partner to the Superintendent, effectively implementing the district’s strategic initiatives to enhance teaching, learning, and overall school performance. The Assistant Superintendent will oversee key operational and instructional areas, ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education while maintaining compliance with district policies, state regulations, and best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred: Minimum three (3) years of Central Office Administrative experience or similar leadership role
- Preferred: Minimum five (5) years of building-level administrative experience or similar leadership role
- Proven expertise in aligning curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices to improve student achievement systemically
- Strong track record of designing and implementing educational programs at scale
- Experience leading large, interdisciplinary teams toward successful program execution
- Master’s degree or higher in educational administration or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively and foster shared decision-making
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Ability to provide visionary leadership that supports growth in key areas, including curriculum design, assessment utilization, instructional design, and technology integration
- Proven leadership in strategic planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement
- Commitment to excellence in establishing and maintaining a high-quality educational program
- Ability to build relationships and use collaborative processes to engage and support all stakeholders
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee the Teaching, Learning, and Technology (TLT) Departments, including Pre-K through Adult Education for Huron Valley Schools
- Ensure cross-departmental collaboration to maintain seamless communication and prioritize student and family needs
- Lead instructional initiatives aligned with the district’s strategic plan
- Support and ensure high-quality Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) across all HVS schools
- Lead training and implementation of the district’s new evaluation tool, including student growth measures, in collaboration with the Directors and the Executive Director of HR
- Serve as the District’s Expulsion Hearing Officer
- Assist the Superintendent with community education initiatives and other district priorities
- Lead policy development, overseeing Board Policy and Administrative Regulations in relevant areas
- Facilitate the Board’s Teaching, Learning, and Technology Subcommittee
- Represent the district at community events as requested by the Superintendent
- Act as a crisis response leader in the Superintendent’s absence or in coordination with the Superintendent and Central Office Administrative Team, providing support for students, families, and staff as needed
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for designated personnel
- Facilitate the District Parent Council to ensure family and community engagement
- Lead and support implementation of Federal and State Programs (e.g., Title I, 31a).
- Oversee district enrollment processes to ensure accessibility and efficiency
- Supervise and support instructional directors, Student Support Services Executive Director
- Oversee professional learning, school improvement planning, and continuous program development
- Ensure Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) are in place for academic and behavioral interventions
- Collaborate with Human Resources to address district staffing needs and talent development
- Lead problem-solving efforts related to parent concerns and stakeholder relations
- Attend all Board of Education Meetings as assigned by the Superintendent
- Facilitate Administrative Instruction Meetings (AIM) in alignment with district vision and strategic plan
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, sums, differences, quotients, and dividends.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
